Blue Ox BXW4028 SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank – 9 Hole x 9″ x 2-1/2″

I elected to use the 2.5″ shank by replacing the 2″ shank that came with my Blue Ox, primarily because of the apparent damage being caused to my receiver due to the movement of the 2″ shank in a 2.5″ to 2″ reducer sleeve. The pin hole was becoming oblong and bell shaped where the pin went in. This shank, while quite heavy is a great replacement for the original 2″ one. There is still some movement to the shank when installed, but much less than when using the sleeve with the 2″ one. I also replaced the pin with a straight pin to help stop the receiver deforming where the previous pin had an angle to it. I have purchased a anti-rattle clamp, but haven’t used it yet. I tried to buy this locally, but ALL of the shops wanted at least $50.00 more than the cost of this one here at Amazon. The only issue was breaking the hitch bolts free and retorquing them to 260 ft lbs. My Air Wrench won’t budge them, so I went to a local mechanic and they made quick work of loosening the nuts/bolts.
