Andersen Hitches No-Sway Weight Distribution Hitch 4in Drop/Rise

$ 95.38

I wish in a small way that I had experience using a traditional style WDH so that I could compare that to my experience with the Andersen hitch, but then I say to myself, who cares this is AWESOME!!!!I came across this WDH when I was dead set on having the dealer install a Blue Ox Sway Pro on our new to us Rockwood 8313SS when we took delivery. I fell in love with the engineering and simplicity of the design. It made a whole lot more sense in my head than the big, old, more traditional WDH’s. As I always do though, I thoroughly researched the product through the magic of Google. I quickly saw that there was a fair amount of skepticism that the product does not work for heavy TT or at least those with heavy TW. (By the way, learned a ton more about abbreviations such as TT/TW/WDH/GVWR….) Our TT is about ~6500lbs dry with a TW of ~800lbs. When the dealer told me they were not an authorized dealer of Andersen Hitches, I asked them “why not”, it seems like an awesome hitch. They just said that it doesn’t seem beefy enough and that I should reconsider their Blue Ox. I sent off a couple of panic questions to the customer service email that I found on their website on a weekend, thinking that there was no way they would get back to me till Monday, too late to order it from Amazon and have it for the scheduled pick up date of our first TT. I received a detailed and clearly explained answer from Andersen later that afternoon. It was clear that their customer service was great. I purchased the product with no doubts in my mind that it was going to be great.It was delivered on time and packaged well. We put the box in our 1500 series Suburban and headed off a week later to pick up our monstrosity of a TT, (which is probably 200lbs away from our max tow weight without much in it) We had an extremely stressful afternoon taking delivery, finding out that Camping World of Hanover PA is not the most honest of RV companies. They placed the trailer in a location where I could apply the hitch myself and said “good luck”. I was tired and ready to go home, also knowing that it was about to get dark and colder than it already was. I am a pretty handy guy so installing the Andersen hitch was pretty straight forward and simple. Only hiccup was relocating the break away wiring box, which took all of 5 min. Once hooked up, I was amazed at how simple it was and how well it looked. We cautiously drove a half mile to Walmart before our 2 hour drive home to test the system and make any adjustments in the parking lot. It worked perfectly right from the get go. Our ride home was awesome! Almost no sway, even from big rigs going the opposite way on 2 lane highways. Handled well and most of all I felt confident driving it. I began to wonder if the stickers were right about the dry and loaded loads on the TT. It makes no noise, is mindless (you don’t have to worry about backing up and such, you just drive once hooked up), it’s clean (no greasy messes ( wife loves that most of all), and it is light weight (very bad back so this is big consideration).I hope that this review is helpful. I know reading the countless others that are on Amazon helped me to make my decision. I conclude that those that are distrusting or have a negative review of the product either A never owned one and/or saw it in person or B they put it on incorrectly thinking it should be like every other WDH when they purchased it and did not ask for additional installation tips from the customer service oriented company they bought it from.If you want a great quality product made by a company that stands behind its product I would highly recommend Andersen WDH’s.
