For many decades I have been a day hiker and backpacker. Over the last few years, I have discovered what a difference a chest strap brings to a backpack. In the early days, most packs did not come with chest straps and the lighter ones did not include waist straps. I have now found that adding a chest strap such as this one even to a light duty day pack can make life so much more comfortable. Now adays I often carry a camera bag, and the strap easily adapts to even those. Once you use a chest strap you will not find yourself as often having to adjust the shoulder straps due to your movement or shifting weight. These really bring you to the next level in comfort. Since so many shoulder straps are different on so many bags and people come in all sizes, please expect to spend some time in attaching this strap to fit comfortably and in most cases, you will find a solution. The only thing that would work out better is to buy a pack with a chest strap, but I could not justify spending money on new backpacks.
